Wichita Red Stockings
The Wichita Herald 1879
Wichita City Eagle

TThe inaugural game against the Topeka Westerns highlighted the grit and skill of the newly formed Wichita Red Stockings. Though the fierce contest ended in a disappointing loss, it marked a steppingstone in shaping Wichita’s baseball future. The Red Stockings’ bright ambitions carried on until 1882, paving the way for new teams and the Western Association in the 1890s.

Today, the CVBB has revived this club to enrich the Old Cowtown Museum experience and capture the spirit of the era.
