Less than a week after the loss by the Wichita “BullDozers” to the Topeka “Westerns”, a group of men from banks, businesses, and political occupations got together to from a new team, the Wichita “Red Stockings”. They pulled the best players from the City of Wichita and the surrounding area. By September of 1879, the new team was officially formed and ready to play games in what was a short season.
